A beautifully preserved antique French Catholic missal titled Paroissien Romain, published by the esteemed Alfred Mame & Fils of Tours, one of the most respected religious publishers of the 19th century.
Bound in black pebbled leather, the cover is richly adorned with an applied metal devotional panel featuring finely cast imagery, including the Crucifixion, Agnus Dei, angels, and symbolic motifs framed within Gothic Revival ornament. The text block is finished with luminous gilt edges, and the interior is enhanced with decorative engraved borders and liturgical illustrations throughout.
A handwritten inscription dated 1932 adds a personal and historical layer, reflecting the continued devotional use of the book well into the 20th century.
Rough Translation: "To my little Sigthe, who will soon be far away—to her Grandmother, who loves her dearly."
