A handsome antique French decorative mount cast in the form of a laurel wreath tied with a flowing ribbon bow, with a small stylized flower or rosette centered at the top.
The wreath is composed of overlapping laurel leaves with small berry-like buds worked between the foliage, terminating at the base in a softly modeled ribbon with forked ends. The surface retains a warm, darkened antique patina with traces of brighter golden metal visible along raised areas.
Several original pierced mounting holes are visible around the wreath and bow, confirming that this was intended to be fixed to another object rather than used independently. It was most likely an ornamental appliqué for a piece of furniture, picture or mirror frame, decorative panel, box, or other French interior furnishing.
