Bookplate Ex Libris Remy Beavrieux dates from the early 20th c - French bibliophile and engraver Remy Beavrieux active in early 20th c - circa 1880-1950; member of the French Societe des Amis du Livre - Friends of the Book Society); stylized owl perched on a branch framed by rising sun was his bookplate style; this appears in Michel Lienard's Repertoire des Ex-Libris Francais Contemporains (Paris, 1930) and in the archives of the Societe Francaise de Collectionneurs d'Ex-Libris, confirming it as genuine
Jean Libert was active in Paris between roughly 1605-1635, producing editions of classical and humanist texts for the Sorbonne and learned clientele; his printing house specialized in Latin authors and philosophical works
