Item: Large 19th Century Rococo Revival Brass Furniture Escutcheon
Additional Description: A substantial pierced brass escutcheon plate with elaborate Rococo Revival scrollwork and central shield-form cartouche. The symmetrical openwork design incorporates flowing acanthus scrolls and decorative flourishes that would have framed a keyhole or decorative cabinet panel.
The reverse reveals the textured sand-cast surface and evidence of earlier mounting.
Pieces of this scale were commonly used on larger furniture forms such as cabinets, sideboards, or writing desks where the escutcheon served as a focal decorative element.
The brass surface has developed a rich aged patina over time.
