A group of three macro miniature scholarly volumes from the important late 17th century European intellectual review Bibliotheque Universelle et Historique, printed in Amsterdam in 1687 by Wolfgang, Waesberge, Boom and van Someren, one of the most prominent Dutch publishing houses of the period. This is a partial set and includes volumes II, V, and VI.
Each volume is bound in period brown calf leather with gilt-decorated spines raised bands, and red-speckled page edges. The bindings appear contemporary to the books and form a visually cohesive small library set.
Interiors retain laid paper, decorative engraved headpieces, and multiple folding engraved plates, including scientific diagrams, mathematical illustrations, and comparative scholarly tables. These folding plates are an especially desirable survival feature, as they are often missing in copies of early scholarly publications.
