| (4) Lot of four Georgian style parcel-gilt and painted wood eagle wall brackets, each having shaped shelf, rising on a winged eagle perched on a rocaille plaque 16"h x 13"w x 5"d Hand-carved Italian or French Georgian-Style Parcel-Gilt Wall Brackets featuring a power spread-wing eagle (Napoleon Imperial inspired) with gilded Rococo scrollwork and a faux-malachite top. Circa Mid-20th Century (1940-70) - palazzo style (dramatic, architectural, and theatrical) Vintage, but Still Hand-Carved Wood (strong craftsmanship) The faux-malachite top surface is hand-painted gesso — a tell-tale feature of decorative carving workshops post-WWII. The gilding is oil gilt / gold paint. The drilled hanging brackets are 20th C hardware. |
