Set of 4 Interior Prints
19th C Chromolithograph of a Rococo-Revival interior, almost certainly from one of the grand Parisian folios of the Second Empire or early Third Republic period (c 1860-1885)
Complete view of a salon or boudoir in the Louis XV (Rococo) style, featuring curved boiseries, mirrored overdoors, and stucco-like ceiling ornament
Circa 1860-1885
Boiserie treatment follows the Louis XV Rocaille vocabulary - asymmetrical scrools, shell cartouches, and intertwined vines - translated into the more disciplined symmetry fashionable under Napoleon III
Ceiling cornice - exuberant C-scrolls with foliage and small figural reliefs of classical putti and trophies
Carved and framed with fine rosettes and arabesques on wall panels
Inspired by Versailles and Petit Trianon; likely represents a Parisian hotel particulier drawing room rather than palace interior
