These spittoons were commonly found in railway stations, saloons and hotels in the American West for chewing tobacco users. This is a reproduction piece to reflect the 19th century originals.
The Union Pacific Railroad, founded in 1862, built the eastern half of America’s first transcontinental railroad, completed with the Golden Spike in 1869. Over the next century and a half, it expanded through major mergers to become the largest freight railroad in the U.S., operating over 32,000 miles of track across 23 states.
