Additional Description: A striking 19th-century French cut crystal and ormolu-mounted wine cooler or champagne bucket, signed DAUBRÉE, the noted Parisian bronze foundry. The cylindrical crystal liner is deeply cut with diamond-point and fan motifs, with two applied clear handles and a starburst-cut base, all raised within an elegant gilt bronze stand supported by scrolling legs ending in paw feet and accented by expressive mask mounts. The front cartouche is decorated with an engraved monogram, adding to the sense of aristocratic table luxury.
The bronze mount is stamped DAUBRÉE, identifying the foundry and elevating the piece above anonymous decorative examples. The combination of heavy crystal and finely cast gilded bronze is quintessentially French and very much in keeping with the luxury table objects of the Napoleon III period. Designed to hold a bottle and ice at table, it also displays beautifully today as a centerpiece or statement bar object.
With its signed foundry mark, complete crystal liner, and strong sculptural presence, this is the anchor object of the group and an especially desirable example of 19th-century French decorative tableware.

These pieces reflected both technical craftsmanship and the era’s love of richly appointed formal interiors.
