Product Description
| Item Title: Small Wallace Silverplate Pierced Trivets, Patterns 7310 Additional Description: A beautifully matched pair of Wallace silverplate trivets in two graduated sizes, featuring intricately pierced and engraved Rococo Revival decoration. Each trivet is richly adorned with scrolling acanthus, florals, and foliate cartouches, surrounding a central polished reserve that provides a striking contrast between ornate and minimal surface. The openwork border is exceptionally well executed, giving the pieces an airy elegance while maintaining structural strength. Both retain their original heat-resistant feet, making them as functional as they are decorative. Marked to the underside “Wallace,” “Silverplate,” and numbered 7310 and 7311, confirming them as companion designs intended to be used together. Era: Mid-20th Century (circa 1940s–1960s) History: Wallace Silversmiths was one of the premier American silver manufacturers, known for translating historic European styles—particularly Rococo and Baroque—into accessible, high-quality silverplate wares. Trivets like these were staples of mid-century entertaining, designed to protect surfaces while elevating presentation. Today, they are highly sought after not only for their function but as layering pieces in curated tabletop and vignette styling. Provenance: United States Materials: Silverplate over base metal with heat-resistant composite feet Dimensions: Two sizes (graduated pair) – exact measurements to be provided Disclaimers/Condition: Good vintage condition with light surface scratching, minor plate wear, and some discoloration to the underside consistent with age and use. Feet intact and stable. Presents beautifully. |
